Township Assistance

Questions regarding assistance with utility bills?  Feel free to call our office and please have your current account number(s) ready.

For Assistance in our office, you MUST bring:
  • Photo ID for ALL persons over 18 years of age in the household

 

  • Social Security Cards for ALL persons in the household

 

  • Proof of Income for the last 30 days for ALL persons in the household

 

  • All current utility bills and rent/lease agreement

Electric Utility
  • Must be on a Disconnect Notice

  • Assistance with disconnect charge ONLY

  • If your services are already disconnected, you must pay the reconnection fee and any deposits before we can assist - Receipt or Confirmation Number must be provided for any payments made prior to receiving assistance

  • Electric Assistance is available once every 180 days (6 months)

Natural Gas Utility
  • Must be on a Disconnect Notice

  • Assistance with disconnect charge ONLY

  • If your services are already disconnected, you must pay the reconnection fee and any deposits before we can assist -
    Receipt or Confirmation Number must be provided for any payments made prior to receiving assistance

  • Natural Gas Assistance is available once every 180 days (6 months)

Water Utility
  • Must be on a Disconnect Notice

  • Assistance with disconnect charge ONLY

  • If your services are already disconnected, you must pay the reconnection fee and any deposits before we can assist -

  • Water Assistance is available once every 180 days (6 months)

Wood, Propane, Kerosene
  • Assistance with these services are determined based on a case-by-case investigation

Food
  • Assistance with food vouchers is determined on a case-by-case investigation

  • Individuals that qualify for SNAP benefits are determined on a case-by-case investigation

  • Food vouchers are available once every 90 days (3 months)

  • Items NOT allowed to be purchased with food vouchers:
             Cases of soda
             Energy drinks
             Pet food
              Alcohol products
             Tobacco products

  • Please be aware that we receive a copy of all receipts for food vouchers from West Vigo IGA

 

  • Vehicle fuel vouchers are available for: 

                 Job interviews

                Doctor appointments

  • You must provide a copy of the appointment card

Vehicle Fuel 
Rent
  • Must be 30 full days behind in Rent

  • Must have a letter from landlord stating the amount behind

 

Prescriptions
  • Assistance is provided to individuals who have NO insurance coverage

  • All prescriptions are serviced through our prescription vendor (JR Pharmacy)
